LONDON— The UK pharmaceutical giant Pfizer is about to spend an estimated £1 billion on research into the heart-tract painkiller Celebrex and it has yet to win approval from the US Food and Drug Administration.
The move comes after Pfizer announced the first clinical trial to test its blockbuster painkiller, Celebrex.
Pfizer is the first company to use the word Celebrex in the drug's name and the first to bring in a new drug to treat the common cold. It was also the first company to use the word "celebrate" in the drug's name.
The move comes after Pfizer said in a statement that it had decided to launch the trial early next year.
Pfizer's decision comes after studies had found Celebrex had a serious side effect of osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis, although no serious side effects have been reported in the patients with osteoarthritis.
Pfizer said the company had received reports of "severe adverse effects" related to the Celebrex study.
The company has been told to stop marketing Celebrex and to not launch the trial prematurely.
Pfizer was also the first company to use the term Celebrex in its drug name.
Celebrex is an arthritis drug that inhibits the production of the enzyme PDE5. It belongs to the class of drugs called cyclo-oxygenase-2 (COX-2) inhibitors.
In recent years, Celebrex has been the subject of several lawsuits and is the subject of several studies that suggest it can cause serious side effects.
Pfizer is the first company to use the term Celebrex in its drug name and the first to bring in a new drug to treat a common cold.
Pfizer is also the first company to bring in a new drug to treat the inflammation of arthritis.
The Celebrex trial was intended to be a double-blind trial of Celebrex and other COX-2 inhibitors.
However, the trial was stopped early last year after an independent panel of physicians concluded that the trial "did not prove that Celebrex is a better or more effective treatment for inflammatory arthritis than other treatments".
Pfizer said it had received reports of serious side effects including liver toxicity, kidney toxicity, cardiac problems and bone problems.
The company said it was "directly reviewing the data and further conducting further studies to evaluate the risks".
The trial will be carried out between September and December of this year, but will not be carried out until the end of 2024.
The Celebrex trial will be carried out in three phases:
The Celebrex trial is being conducted by Pfizer's Pfizer subsidiary in Delaware, Canada, and the United Kingdom.
Pfizer and the company's subsidiary, Pfizer Global Health, announced on Friday that they are developing a joint effort to bring a drug to the market in the United States.
The company has already started marketing Celebrex to physicians and other health care professionals in the U. S. to treat people with arthritis.
The Celebrex trial, which will be carried out between March 27 and March 28, is a trial to see if Celebrex can help relieve the pain and inflammation in people with arthritis.
The trial will also be carried out in the U. by Pfizer, a subsidiary of Pfizer.
Celebrex is the first COX-2 inhibitor to treat the common cold and is the only drug in its class that is approved to treat both.
Celebrex was first approved in 1999. The drug was first introduced in 1991 as an anti-inflammatory agent.
It is the first anti-inflammatory drug to be approved for treatment of pain and inflammation.
